Another year around the sun spent documenting the human connection. We can honestly say our passion for telling stories deepens and becomes more meaningful each year. Each year we realize even more how valuable life is. Time is a precious gift. That is the biggest lesson 2019 taught us. The overwhelming amount of love we captured, gave and received taught us more than any book we read or film we watched. This love punched us in the guts and filled our souls in ways we’ve never felt. This love taught us about life, sometimes without even using words, because it was so deeply felt with the thousands of breathing souls and beating hearts we had the honour of sharing it with. Looking back on this year is a blur of countless tears and endless smiles.
2019 was the year we documented the most amount of life we ever have. Through Ontario, majority between Niagara and Toronto, we captured 40 weddings, 21 engagements, 10 families, 7 boudoirs, 6 business owners as well as having the honour of educating 18 photographers between our 2 workshops and 1 year long mentorship program. Thousands of our hours were spent being completely immersed in emotion shared between thousands of people. This was a year of beautiful connection that gifted us 365 days of living it, capturing it, editing it, studying it, teaching it and sharing it.
Some truly manifested and incredible moments happened in 2019. We had the privilege of working alongside many talented artists and professionals. We launched our first Wedding Legends workshop which has been one of the most surreal experiences. We witnessed so many friends commit themselves to each other on a deeper level. We saw families come together. We even had the beautiful experience of attending and documenting some of our best friends say I do. We won JuneBug Weddings World’s Best Engagement Photo alongside 50 crazily talented artists we admire. We were featured in People Magazine for documenting a story and connection we adore. We traveled to new places, met new faces, hugged new friends and laughed until we cried with ones we’ve loved for years.
This year we felt some of the happiest moments with many souls as well as some of the hardest. This year showed us that best days and worst days can happen simultaneously and that’s okay. This is life. Life is a beautiful chaos of emotion. Some couples were experiencing their best days while some were struck with loss days before the day they’ve spent dreaming of. We witnessed families celebrate, grieve, smile, dance, cry, laugh and hold onto to each other tighter than they ever have. It showed us that no matter what life throws at us, human connection is what heals. Every single celebration shared intense love, memories and moments that lifted spirits and kept everyone laughing!
Losing our best friend very suddenly in the middle of our wedding season challenged us to dig deeper and be more open. It deepened our appreciation for the gift of capturing love and time. Our work is all about emotional connection. Terrified to share what was happening in our lives we sat back and thought about the life we had documented up until that point. The lessons that every vow, speech, hug and interaction taught us, ultimately gave us the courage to open our lives more. You all challenged us to dig deeper for the understanding of our why. Every moment after that day became more meaningful. Showing others how beautiful their love and life is has been the best way to heal.
We ended the year taking a bucket list trip back to the place that ignited our passion for documenting connection. We traveled Thailand, celebrated 2020 in Singapore and now write this from a rooftop in Bali. 2019 has truly been a lesson about life and love. It has opened our eyes of what we are capable of experiencing and achieving in one year. This year was all about surreal moments, surreal feelings and damn are we beyond grateful to have lived through it all. The most sincere thank you to every person that stepped in front of our lens. You all made this a year we’ll never forget. Here is our best of 2019, not just our best moments, but the best moments of countless souls we had the privilege of feeling it with.
